Fishing Licenses & Regulations
Ice fishing and worm fishing (simple rod fishing) are part of Finland's everyman's rights and do not require a license.
All other types of fishing do require valid permits.
Fisheries Management Fee (Required)
Since 1.1.2026 all anglers aged 18–69 must pay the Fisheries Management Fee.
Once paid, you may fish with one rod across most of Finland, excluding:
- The Åland Islands
- Rapids and streams in migratory fish waters
- Other restricted areas defined by ELY Centres

Multiple Rods or Lure Fishing
Fishing with more than one rod requires: an area-specific lure fishing license.
In accordance with the fisheries regulations the angler will need to purchase the area-specific lure fishing license for Lake Inari (area 1580).Permits can be purchased from proper authorities via Eräluvat - webpage.
Trap & Net Fishing
Trap or net fishing requires the landowner’s permission.
During your stay, you can purchase a net license for two nets (with nets included) on Aamunkoi’s private water area for €20/week.
Permission can be secured from the owners by email at the time of booking.
Fishing Rules
Anglers must always follow:
- National fishing regulations
- Local Inari region rules
- Minimum size requirements and closed seasons as per legislation
Hunting Licenses
The nearest state hunting area is the expansive 1612 Tsarmitunturi, covering approx. 140,000 hectares.

Hunting on Private Land
Aamunkoi includes about 50 hectares of private land, for which limited hunting, or dog training permission may be granted, by agreement with the owners.
Snowmobile Trails & Permits
Driving on official marked snowmobile trails requires a personal or family trail permit.

Snowmobiles can be driven on the ice, outside of maintained trails, without purchasing a permit.
On land, outside marked routes or trails: forbidden without landowner permission..
To operate a snowmobile always requires at least 15 years of age, and a T-class driving license required for marked trails and routes..
